In 2000 the Texas Book Festival honored writer John Graves on the 40th anniversary of his book "Goodbye to a River" and his 80th birthday. Part of that recognition included the release of a small book, "John Graves and the Making of Goodbye to a River: Selected Letters, 1957-1960."
With only 120 pages it gives the reader some insight into the publishing world of 1957-1960. It includes correspondence between John Graves and his publisher, the book designer, editors etc. It also includes letters between John Graves and J. Frank Dobie.
…and just as a bonus, written between the lines, is a micro course in creative writing.
