Since it's inception in 1976, The Edgewood Heritage Festival has become one of the premier annual festivals in East Texas. The festival is at the Heritage Park Museum of East Texas in downtown Edgewood, which is located on US Highway 80, 50 miles east of Dallas and 50 miles west of Tyler. Admission to the festival is free.Since 1976, the museum has grown into a major historical attraction that includes twenty-two authentically restored and furnished buildings that depicts a village setting in rural East Texas in the early 1900s. This historical attraction located on eighteen lots in downtown Edgewood is owned and operated by the membership of The Heritage Park Museum of East Texas, a 501-c-non-profit organization. Funding for the maintenance and operation of this on-going preservation project is through donations and fund raising efforts by the membership.
