In the Jefferson County, Tennessee will books is a record of the inventory and sale of the personal property of John McSpadden in January, 1799. Esther Thompson McSpadden out lived several of her children. Her will, dated June 18, 1832, probated March Session, Jefferson County, 1835, named daughter Polly Dunwoody; daughter Esther Dunwoody; sons Thomas; Samuel; Matthew; Ally, widow of son James; Isabella, widow of son Archibald; five heirs of son James, to wit: Thomas, John, Nancy, James, Esther; grandson John Calvin Patterson; and Thomas, Susan, and William, heirs of son John.
This John McSpadden is listed on page 27 of Allen's "Tennessee Soldiers of the American Revolution".

Andrew Jackson and fought in the "Battle of New Orleans" Samuel Eagleton McSpadden 1791-1874 married (2) Mrs. Mary Gannt Reynolds; married (3) Charlotte Cunningham, who is listed as his wife in the 1850 census of Monroe Co.,TN. No issue by marr. 2 or 3.

To be investigated: Is her middle name a "maiden" name and she was previously married to a Reynolds, vice versa, or was she "given" her mother's maiden name?

Notes for MARY ANNE (POLLY) LOWREY:

There is a strong probability as indicated by records in the book "Tennessee Cousins" by Worth S. Ray and other family records, that Mary Anne (Polly) Lowrey was the daughter of George Lowrey, one of the Cherokee Chieftains who signed the "Hiwassee Purchase" in Washington D.C. Feb 27, 1819 with Secretary of War John C. Calhoun, and was related to John Ross, a Scotsman who took over as chief of the Cherokees and was founder of "Ross' Ferry" TN (now known as Chattanooga, TN).

Considering that their last child Amanda McSpadden was born about 1832 and family records show Mary's death to be 1832, it is very possible that Mary died from complications due to childbirth. We do not know how long Amanda survived.
