March 02, 1842 Robert Potter, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, is murdered in the Regulator-Moderator War.
April 20, 1842 Germans form a society to aid German immigration to Texas.
September 18, 1842 Forty-two people are massacred by Indians at the Battle of Salado Creek.
December 31, 1842 The Archives War: Austin citizens keep the state's papers from being moved to Houston.
