The 20th Annual Civil War Weekend at Liendo Plantation and living history event held on the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving. The Liendo mansion was completed in 1853, the surrounding property became one of Texas' earliest & most successful cotton plantations. Liendo remained a location of activity during the American Civil War when it served as a Cavalry & Infantry training camp site, an internment camp & even a hospital.
Following the war, General George Custer & his men camped on the grounds for several months.
Liendo is now recognized as a State & National historic landmark continuing to preserve & share Texas & America's history.
