In Swahili, 'HARAMBEE' means 'pull together' and this is your invitation to become involved! The 2012 Annual Tarrant County HARAMBEE Festival is an opportunity for the entire county to pull together in celebration of a shared heritage.

The festival is Saturday, October 6, 2012, in the historic Evans Avenue Plaza (Evans & Rosedale in Ft. Worth) from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The parade begins at 9, after which there will be a variety of ongoing activities throughout the day designed to appeal to a diverse audience.

Our Wellness Expo, located in the upper level of Ella Shamblee Library, will feature numerous health screenings and info by vendors such as Moncrief Cancer Institute and Harris Hospital. Children will be entertained by many activities in our new and improved Kids Zone as well as the Anti-Bullying Rally which will begin at 10:30. This rally is in conjunction with a Fort Worth ISD and national initiative which observes October as Anti Bullying month.

We look forward to seeing you on this fun-filled, exciting day!!! For more info visit www.TarrantCountyBlackHistory.org or call 817 332-6049.
